Earlier this year Joelle sent me this Eric Clapton song.  I just love the lyrics so I thought it would be the perfect song to accompany my favorite family photos for the year.

What a long strange trip it's been.  I'm actually not a Grateful Dead fan but that sums up my year for me.  I switched to digital in January and completely changed up my business.  I have learned a ton and turned more than a few hairs gray in the process.  I am going to take a break over the next 10 days and figure out which way is up.

But I won't leave you without any fun tidbits.  I found this neat program to make slide shows for my blog so we'll see how it works. I've pulled all of my favorite pictures of the year and I'll show them to you in three slide shows over the next week or so.  Stay tuned!  You just might see somebody you know!

Merry Christmas

The secret is out

Over Thanksgiving I took some family pictures of Joelle and Stephen and Little Man Jack.  I'd never really gotten a great family picture of those guys and since it was Christmas card season we decided to try again.

I got some very cute pictures of those guys (if I do say so myself!) but the man in the red suit won out and they used a cute picture of Jack looking up at Santa in wonder.  That means I can share them with you now!

The other fun thing that happened over Thanksgiving is that Jack got a brand new t-shirt.  He came in wearing a 'Big Brother' t-shirt to announce the impending arrival of a new bundle of joy for the Harrisons.  What a great surprise!

I can hardly wait to get my hands on he/she to take some squishy newborn pictures.  Jack was so huge (10 pounds at birth) that there was nothing squishy or bendy about him.  Hopefully I can get my paws on this new little munchkin before it gets a chance to unfurl!

Africa Hot

We got up early last Sunday (even for us) to talk with our good friends from Africa.  We've talked to them on the phone before, but this was the first time we've ever 'Skyped' with them.  For those unhip folks (like me) who don't know what Skype is let me explain.  It's a simple way to talk with friends over the internet using a webcam.  You can talk with virtually anybody in the world and we did! 

Our friends, the Leists, have been living in Africa since August and they will be there at least through next September so it was just a treat to be able to see them.  Well kind of.  The hotel they were staying in over the holidays was quite dim so it was a bit like watching spooky Santa talk to us over the computer. 

Guess what we have in common with those guys?  The temperature outside.  Ours was 26 degrees and so was theirs in Mombasa (off the African coast on the Indian Coast for those who are geographically challenged).  Too bad ours was Farenheit and theirs was Celcius!

Snow Daze

Last week we ended the school year with a bang.  On Wednesday school was cancelled because of the THREAT of snow.  We had barely a dusting and many bitter parents.  On Thursday it snowed all day and Friday was sunny and snowy.  So no school on any of those days.

We baked cookies, watched plenty of holiday movies and hung out with our friends.  Forget the last minute errands.  If we don't have it I guess we don't need it.  That's one way to keep my budget in check!

Phew!

I made it. I wasn't sure I was going to, but I made it to the end of my schedule.  Shelly wanted to bring her three boys (well, her hubby and her two sons) in mid December because little Asher turned one on the 12th and she wanted to take his first year pictures as close to that date as possible. 

Amid all of the promise and surprise of the season I was honestly surprised to get such great cooperation from the boys.  Grayson (big brother) was excited and enthusiastic about having his picture taken and that attitude was picked up by Asher too. 

Even though it was only 32 degrees outside (and threatening to snow) we took a few pictures outside without coats.  Such troopers!

Okay, I checked the naughty and nice list and you must be doing something right because I'm sharing these fun pictures of Julian.  I posted his girlfriend, Maeve's, pictures yesterday and now it is his turn.

Marvelous Maeve

Last week I got to take pictures of a new little friend.  Her nanny, Alissa brought her in as a super secret surprise for her parents for the holidays.  We found that the best way to make her smile was to get her buddy Julian up close and personal.  A sure fire winner!

I even took a few pictures of Julian too but you will have to wait until tomorrow to see those.  (And only if you've been good little kids all year long!)
